REBUTTONS FÜR DEN SCHULUNTERRICHT

Bist du eine Lehrperson und möchtest mit deinen Schüler-/innen etwas Handfestes zum Thema Kunststoff-Recycling im Unterricht machen? Dann haben wir hier genau das Richtige für dich!

Der ReButton wird aus einem Schraubdeckel einer PET-Flasche hergestellt. Die dazu notwendige Pressform sowie die dazu gehörenden Arbeitsstationen haben wir hier im FabLab Luzern für die LUGA 2018 entwickelt. Dort waren sie zum ersten Mal am Stand von TunZentralschweiz im Einsatz. Kinder im Alter von 7 bis 16 Jahre haben dieses Angebot über mehrere Tage rege genutzt und waren davon begeistert – natürlich hat es aber auch ältere Personen sehr angesprochen!

Dinge wieder selber machen liegt voll im Trend. Die DIY-Kultur («Do it yourself») eignet sich Wissen über Herstellungsprozesse an und distanziert sich vom Hyperkonsum unserer Gesellschaft. Die Herstellung des ReButtons kann einerseits einen industriellen Prozess von Kunststoffverarbeitung vermitteln, andererseits nimmt sie die aktuellen Thematiken Recycling, Nachhaltigkeit und das Denken in Kreisläufen auf und verbindet es mit einer «praktischen» Handlung/Übung.

Der Lochknopf (oder auf Englisch «Button») selbst ist ein Alltagsgegenstand und gleichzeitig auch ein Design-Klassiker. Schon zum x-ten Mal neu erfunden, gibt es ihn schon seit über 700 Jahren in allen Formen und Farben. Vielleicht weil Manches ohne ihn nicht so einfach funktionieren würde, denken wir z.B. an die Hose, das Hemd oder die Strickjacke.

UNSER ANGEBOT

Zum einen bietet das FabLab Luzern zusammen mit dem PlasticTwist-Projekt spezielle Workshops für Lehrpersonen an (Teilnehmerzahl begrenzt!). In diesen kostenlosen Workshops zeigen wir, wie die Pressformen der ReButtons auf der CNC-Fräse hergestellt werden und wie man damit die ReButtons presst. Zudem vermitteln wir den Teilnehmenden Basiswissen rund um das Thema Kunststoff – welche Typen gibt es und welche eignen sich besonders zum Recyceln/Basteln.

Zum anderen können Lehrpersonen oder Schulen bei uns die Pressform und die Arbeitsstationen für die ReButtons komplett mit allen Werkzeugen kostenlos ausleihen! Dieses Angebot ist als Ergänzung des Schulunterrichts oder für eine Projektwoche gedacht – für die Dauer von 1-2 Wochen oder auch länger. Im FabLab Luzern zeigen wir ausführlich die Bedienung der Arbeitsstation und was dabei beachtet werden muss. Bei Interesse kann man sich einfach bei uns melden: labmanager@fablab-luzern.ch

Die «Teach the Teacher»-Workshops finden an folgenden Tagen bei uns im FabLab Luzern statt:

Wir beginnen um 9 Uhr und sind gegen 12 Uhr fertig (Dauer ca. 3h inkl. Pausen). Dieses Workshop Angebot ist kostenlos und es sind keine Vorkenntnisse notwendig. Lehrpersonen werden bevorzugt(!)

NACHMACHEN UND TEILEN

Der Teach The Teacher-Workshop ist unterstützt durch das PlasticTwist-Projekt. Das interdisziplinäre und international aufgestellte Forschungsteam von PlasticTwist will mit verschiedenen Massnahmen das Bewusstsein in der Gesellschaft steigern, damit Plastik (wieder) als wertvolle Ressource wahrgenommen wird. Sie hinterfragen etablierte Recycling-Praktiken, forschen an nachhaltigen Innovationen und fördern zirkuläre Wirtschaftspraktiken.

ReButtons for the educational context

Are you a teacher who would like introduce your pupils to the theme of plastic recycling hands on? Then this is a FabLab workshop for you!

The ReButton is made from one single cap from a PET bottle. For the LUGA 2018 the FabLab Luzern developed work stations where you can create your own buttons from bottle caps and also learn a lot about plastic as a material. We were at the LUGA for the first time as part of the activities of TunZentralschweiz. For several days kids between 7 and 16 years – but certainly also adults – were very enthusiastic about making the ReButtons.

Making stuff yourself is a significant trend today. Do-It-Yourself activities are also a way to acquire knowledge about materials, crafts and processes and it is a way to reflect and create some distance to the our hyper consumption of our times. Combining practice with reflection the ReButton tells you something about industrial processes and design and it is also a basic introduction to recycling, sustainability and how to understand circular processes.

The button is an everyday object and it is a design classic. Every now and then it appears in new versions, but the basic button has existed for 700 years in kinds of materials and shapes. Many things would not work as well without the button; bags, jeans, jackets, shirts.

OUR OFFER

In collaboration with the Horizon 2020 EU PlasticTwist-Projekt we offer special workshops for teachers (please note that limit to the number of participants). We will show you how the mold for the buttons is produced in the CNC mill and how you produce the ReButton. You will also acquire basic knowledge about different types of plastic and their use for recycling.

Moreover as a teacher or school we will lend you the mold and workstation with all the tools free of charge for one or two weeks enabling you to integrate the ReButton recycling process in your teaching about waste, recycling and sustainability in normal classes or project weeks. We start at 9 o’clock and will have completed the tasks at 12 o’clock (ca. three hours including breaks). The workshop is free and no prior experience with the material is needed. Lehrpersonen werden bevorzugt(!)
