Willst du wissen, welche Kunststoffe man gut recyceln kann und wie man das macht? Dann bist du bei uns genau am richtigen Ort!
Im FabLab Luzern haben wir einen maschinellen Neuzugang: Den Plastik-Wolf! Dieses Gerät haben wir nach dem Vorbild von Dave Haaken’s «Precious Plastic»-Projekt nachgebaut. Gerne stellen wir ihn allen zur Verfügung, die damit bei uns im FabLab Luzern ein Projekt aus recyceltem Kunststoff realisieren möchten. Zudem bieten wir kostenlose Workshops rund um das Thema Kunststoff und Recycling an und zeigen ausführlich, wie man die Maschinen bedient.
Wie das Wort «Kunst»-Stoff schon beinhaltet, ist es ein wunderbarer oder ein magischer Stoff und auf keinen Fall billige Wegwerf-Ware. Thermoplastische Kunststoffe können sehr einfach durch Erwärmung in Form gebracht werden d.h. die Industrie kann damit die unterschiedlichsten Produkte sehr kostengünstig herstellen. Dadurch sind diese Produkte wiederum für uns günstig zu Kaufen und es entsteht der Eindruck: Kunstoff = billig!
Zudem denken Firmen bei der Entwicklung und Herstellung von Produkten oft nicht in Kreisläufen. Sie bauen absichtliche Fehler ein (Geplante Obsoleszenz) und zwingen Konsumenten dazu, immer rascher neue Produkte zu kaufen (Hyperkonsum Gesellschaft). Produktdiversifikationen und die stetige Erscheinung von Nachfolgemodellen machen Reparaturen oder das Beschaffen von Einzelteilen meist mühsam oder gar unmöglich. Ergo: viele Kunststoff-Teile landen im Müll und werden entsorgt/verbrannt – im schlimmsten Fall landen sie in der Umwelt oder im Meer(!) – obwohl man Kunststoffe ganz leicht recyceln könnte.
Schade oder? – Lasst uns etwas draus machen!
UNSER ANGEBOT
Im «Cycle Of Things»-Workshop vermitteln wir Basiswissen zu verschiedenen Kunststoffarten und welche sich besonders gut für’s Recycling eignen. Natürlich zeigen wir ausführlich wie der Plastik-Wolf funktioniert, was man damit machen darf und was nicht. Zudem shredden wir gleich gebrauchte Flaschen, Becher und was wir sonst noch finden und stellen daraus selber einfache Objekte her. Und sicher hat es noch Platz für deine ganz persönlichen Fragen und Anregungen.

Die «Cycle Of Things»-Workshops finden an folgenden Tagen bei uns im FabLab Luzern statt:

Wir beginnen um 9 Uhr und sind gegen 12 Uhr fertig (Dauer ca. 3h inkl. Pausen). Dieses Workshop Angebot ist kostenlos und es sind keine Vorkenntnisse notwendig. Personen jeden Alters sind willkommen, Jugendliche und Kinder unter 16 Jahren in Begleitung einer Erwachsenen Person.

Der Cycle Of Things-Workshop ist unterstützt durch das PlasticTwist-Projekt. Das interdisziplinäre und international aufgestellte Forschungsteam von PlasticTwist will mit verschiedenen Massnahmen das Bewusstsein in der Gesellschaft steigern, damit Plastik (wieder) als wertvolle Ressource wahrgenommen wird. Sie hinterfragen etablierte Recycling-Praktiken, forschen an nachhaltigen Innovationen und fördern zirkuläre Wirtschaftspraktiken.

Do you want to know which plastics you can recycle and how it is done? Then come to FabLab Luzern!
At the FabLab Luzern we have made a new machine: The Plastic Wolf! It is constructed based on the open source instructions and drawings from Dave Haaken’s «Precious Plastic»-Project. And it is now available for all who want to make projects with recycled plastic. We are also offering free workshops to the theme of plastics and recycling and will give you a solid introductions to the use of the tools.
As the word plastic implies it is a flexible pliable material and definitely not just something to waste or trash. Thermoplastics can as if by magic change shape when heated and it is obvious that industry has explored the advantage of the diversity of polymers in the past 100 year because they are cheap and light and durable!
However, in the past producers have not spent a lot of energy on the necessity and potential of reusing plastics. On the contrary, essential for technology and mobility plastics have been given the center stage for products’ planned obsolesce and accelerating consumer habits. When things break down they cannot be repaired and they become waste – some of it is collected for incineration or in some countries landfills – much too much ends up in nature or in the sea – despite the fact that much plastic remains useful and could be recycled.
That’s a pity, right? – let’s reuse it instead.
OUR OFFER
In the «Cycle Of Things»- workshop we will communicate basic knowledge about the various types of plastics and which are particularly useful for recycling. We will also introduce you to how the Pastic Wolf works and and what it can be used for and what should not go into the shredder. We will shred bottles and cups and other stuff of specific plastic types and make objects with the material. We will also have time to discuss your ideas.
Dates and registration
We start at 9 o’clock and will have completed the tasks at 12 o’clock (ca. three hours including breaks). The workshop is free and no prior experience with the material is needed. It is open to people of all ages, however children and young persons under 16 years of age should be accompanied by an adult.

The Cycle Of Things-Workshop is supported by the PlasticTwist-Project. As an interdisciplinary and international Horizon 2020 EU research project PlastisTwist is working to re-valuate plastics as a resource. PlasticTwist contextualizes established recycling habits and explores possibilities for sustainable innovation and circular business practices.
